Lake Neusiedl becomes a mecca for adventurers

Many highly motivated athletes are already looking forward to the event on May 19.

"Ahoy, Lake Neusiedl" - that's the call at Lakemania on May 19. Kayaks and canoes will set off on a long journey of five, 17 or 42.195 kilometers. "Every stroke of the oars, every paddle is a declaration of love for our steppe lake," emphasized the organizers from Burgenland Extrem at the official kick-off in Rust on Wednesday.

Master class with the pros
Registrations have already been received from all over Europe. Twice as many starters as in 2023 want to experience the spectacular sporting event. Participation is free of charge, subject to registration (www.burgenlandextrem.com). Kayak legend Nigel Dennis is eagerly awaited. The professional, who is traveling all the way from Wales, will lead a one-day master class on May 18. Anyone wishing to take part for 100 euros can register by email ([e-mail]).

A foretaste will be offered on May 17 in the Seehof Rust from 6 pm. Lina Karner will explain the UNESCO World Heritage Site Lake Neusiedl/Fertö, Zoltan Bruckner from Budapest will reveal secrets about the kayak adventure Zakynthos and Thomas Aigner will offer insights into the Rust Paddling Center.
