Gols clinic follows the example of Oberwart

Governor Hans Peter Doskozil wants to speed up the expansion of medical care in the district of Neusiedl. Starting in June, ideas for the architectural realization of the new hospital will be sought. 

The decision on the construction of the Gols hospital has been dragging on for some time. Among other things, the project had attracted opposition because the hospital was to be built in the Natura 2000 area. The controversy over the location led to a protracted legal dispute. There were repeated protests and delays.

"The state has recently created the legal conditions to be able to press ahead with the planned new hospital building," the state parliament said on Wednesday. On the initiative of Governor Hans Peter Doskozil, the mandate of the steering committee, which was previously only responsible for the construction of the Oberwart clinic, has been extended to include the Gols project.

Steering committee is a matter for the boss
The first meeting took place immediately under Doskozil's chairmanship: "The population expects the best healthcare in the district of Neusiedl too. That is why we are now gradually moving into concrete implementation. The steering committee, which professionally accompanied and managed the scheduled completion of the Oberwart clinic, will therefore be given additional tasks so that the Gols clinic can be built as quickly as possible."

The committee will not only be responsible for the Gols project, but also for the subsequent use of the clinic in Kittsee and for future developments at the Oberwart clinic. At Doskozil's side as chairman are the two Landesholding managing directors Hans Peter Rucker and university professor Dr. Gerald Goger.

Tender for architectural competition
In addition to the management of Gesundheit Burgenland and the provincial administration, Josef Strohmaier (FH) and master builder Christian Hofstädter are once again on the committee as project managers for the new building. Doskozil is pleased that "with these experts, we can rely on a great deal of know-how in the steering committee".

An architectural competition for the Gols clinic will be announced in June. The winner should be determined by mid-2025. Great importance is attached to "making ecological construction methods visible in a natural way".
