Stable credit rating, strong liquidity - the renowned rating agency Standard & Poor's gives the budget policy of Governor Hans Peter Doskozil and his SPÖ a consistently good report card.

The budget is the subject of heated debate in the state parliament. The opposition is not sparing in its criticism of the "state's debt policy". The SPÖ can counter this with the current assessment by the internationally recognized rating agency Standard & Poor's. The new report on Burgenland's creditworthiness is now available.

High rating
According to the report, the experts' assessment remains positive with an AA rating and a stable outlook. The results of the individually assessed sub-areas such as the economic situation, financial management, budget development and debt are almost exclusively rated as "good" to "very good".

Stable financial situation
"This is an important confirmation of our course. Burgenland has a high level of budget stability and strong liquidity despite all the necessary investments in measures to combat inflation," says Governor and Finance Minister Hans Peter Doskozil, drawing a satisfactory balance. The liquidity situation is even described as "exceptionally strong".

Good prospects
Far-reaching investments in the business location, green energy and important infrastructure projects are highlighted as promising. The construction of the new clinic in Oberwart - in particular its completion on schedule and adherence to cost limits - is also mentioned positively in the report. The rating agency assumes that Burgenland's debt burden will remain moderate until 2025 and will continue to be below 60 percent of revenue.
