More snowfall in Carinthia down to the valleys

April 23 and all you can see is: white! The month lives up to its reputation of "April Fool's Day". This is currently also noticeable on the roads.

At the beginning of April, a low pressure system caused snowfall in large parts of Carinthia, and just a few days earlier many people were already wearing their swimming trunks at the lido. On Tuesday night, it snowed again all over the country, most heavily in Kötschach-Mauthen with ten centimetres. It remained wet all day, with the snow line rising to 900 meters during the day and temperatures in Upper Carinthia peaking at 5 degrees.

Weather in the coming days
Wednesday will be similar to Tuesday. Gray, wet and slightly milder with a maximum of eleven degrees.

The weather will improve from Thursday. The sun may peek out from time to time, then the snow will disappear. Things will pick up again towards Friday and the weekend. On Saturday it will be around 17 degrees, Sunday even over 20 degrees. Then it will be spring weather again.

Particularly affected road sections
Chains are compulsory when driving up the Falkert, over the Katschberg and Turrach and up the Flattnitz. Caution is also advised on the B70 Packer Straße near Ruhrstadt and on the A2 Südautobahn on the Packsattel. There may be delays in this area due to the snow clearing vehicles.
