Taylor Swift:
Curse words and hot topics shock parents
Pop star Taylor Swift gets coarser as she gets older: "The Tortured Poets Department" contains explicit content and divides the fan community.
Taylor Swift is known for her catchy melodies and emotional lyrics. But on her new album "The Tortured Poets Department", the singer strikes a new tone: Seven of the 20 songs are explicit and contain swearing and obscene language.
"F...k", "bitch" and "s...t" are just some of the words that can be heard on the album, which was released on Friday and broke the record for the most streamed album in a single day in Spotify history in less than 24 hours.
Parents concerned about inappropriate content for young fans
While some fans are celebrating the 34-year-old's new artistic freedom, others are shocked by the crude language and explicit themes.
The topics of self-harm, violence and death are also seen as critical for children.
In the Facebook group "Taylor Swift's Vault" with over 480,000 members, a debate broke out about whether the album is suitable for young fans. "I feel bad for all the 'Taylor Tots'," wrote one member. "Most parents won't think this album is appropriate."
Swift has a huge fan base in the nine, ten, eleven and up age group called "Taylor Tots," meaning "Taylor kids," in the Facebook group.
