Liefering still successful after change of coach

Successful coaching debut! Neo-Liefering coach Daniel Beichler had to tremble at the end, but was able to celebrate a 2:1 victory at Leoben. He owed this largely to his goalkeeper Jonas Krumrey.

A tired game turned out to be exciting at the end. Liefering won 2:1 in Leoben on Daniel Beichler's coaching debut. Goalkeeper Jonas Krumrey was the match-winner in the second division match, saving a penalty in the 56th minute with the score at 0:0. Raphael Hofer had caused this shortly beforehand with an unnecessary foul. "That's my job. It's nice when you still win," grinned the penalty-killer. Before that, Beichler's debut game was very sluggish. Leoben had one or two good opportunities, but were still unable to convert them into goals. Liefering produced just as little in attack - apart from a shot from Moussa Yeo. Partly due to the footwear, which often caused the Salzburgers to slip.

The penalty saved gave the young bulls a boost. In the 63rd minute, joker Justin Omoregie scored 90 seconds after coming on as a substitute to give the visitors the lead. "It was a great game, but I'm glad I was able to help the team," beamed Omoregie, who only played his fifth second division game this season due to various injuries.

When Leoben opened up and pushed for an equalizer, space opened up. Adam Daghim, who had also come on as a substitute, took advantage of this and increased the lead to 2:0. The Styrians caused some trepidation immediately after the break by scoring the equalizer, but Lieferingen pulled it off. "It was definitely a nail-biter. From my point of view, we played against a really good opponent. In the end, you have to say - in terms of chances - we were the lucky winners. Although it has to be said that we didn't finish cleanly in the second half," said Daniel Beichler about his debut. There will be a day off on Saturday and training on Sunday. On Monday, Liefering's younger players will play a test match against Leipzig's U19s.
