Straka plays his way to the top in Hilton Head
Golf pro Sepp Straka topped his strong opening performance at the PGA tournament in Hilton Head in South Carolina on Friday. The Viennese followed up his 66 from the previous day with a round of 65 on the par-71 course, putting him in a tie for the lead with American Tom Hoge when he entered the clubhouse.
The end of the round for the entire field is expected on Saturday night (CEST).
Straka had started badly from fourth place with a double bogey, but then he really took off. Last year's Ryder Cup winner made eight birdies on the following 17 holes and played par on the remaining holes. This put Straka in a good position to play for his third PGA title at the weekend. So far, the Tokyo 2021 Olympic runner-up has won in February 2022 and July 2023.
