Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal - England's top three clubs have all been knocked out of the European Cup. From the "best league in the world", only Aston Villa (semi-finals in the Conference League) are still in the running for an international title. The "big three" are now on edge in the domestic title race and are in danger of losing their skins. "Sleeping giants" was the headline in the English newspaper "The Sun".
- Arsenal:
Just a few days ago, the Gunners' world looked glorious. First in the Premier League, in the running in the Champions League. This was followed by a 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa and a 1-0 loss to Bayern. "We've blown it all in the space of a few days," was the tenor of the disappointed fans.
- Manchester City:
The dethroned defending Champions League champions still have a chance of winning the double. They face Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday. In the league title race, they are two points ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool. "There are still two extremely important titles at stake, that's challenge enough," says star striker Erling Haaland.
- Liverpool:
After the Europa League knockout against Atalanta, outgoing coach Jürgen Klopp only has the Premier League left to say goodbye with a major title. "Don't worry, the boys show a lot of passion and will."
