Neos insist on regional economic zone

The Vorarlberg Greens' call for a soil protection strategy caused a mixed response from their political rivals 

Eva Hammerer and Bernie Weber presented a catalog of measures to protect against further excessive soil erosion in Bregenz on Thursday. On the one hand, the Greens want to strengthen the town centers and promote densification within the municipal boundaries; on the other hand, they propose introducing a so-called green space quota. This is intended to guarantee that future construction projects maintain or create appropriate green spaces in relation to the building development.

The proposals did not exactly cause a storm of enthusiasm among the Neos and the coalition partner ÖVP. While the ÖVP emphasized that sealing had already been severely restricted in recent years, the Pinks repeated their demand for a regional economic zone so that companies in Vorarlberg could develop better. However, the Greens will not be too happy about this.
