Believes Kuchl can win title

Weberbauer experienced all the highs and lows in Leoben

Josef Weberbauer has experienced many highs and lows with second division club Leoben. When time permits, the Kuchl native likes to return home and watch the games in the Salzburg League. He wishes his former club the championship title.

Since July, Josef Weberbauer has been going through all kinds of emotional states at second division club Leoben. After moving from Ried to Styria, he won the first three games of the season with the Donawitzers, but after a few failures, coach Carsten Jancker was sacked. After some initial difficulties, things continued successfully under Rene Poms before he resigned after the Cup semi-final against Rapid - and Jancker took over. Weberbauer, Jancker and Co. face Liefering on Friday (18:10).

High quality in the squad
Just like the coaches, Weberbauer's playing time also changed. In 16 of 23 possible appearances, the Kuchler was in the starting eleven ten times. Two games on the bench were recently followed by two short appearances under Carsten Jancker. "The players who are there have the quality to play in the starting eleven, everyone has earned it. If you have to sit on the bench, you can't really complain," said the 26-year-old, appreciating the high quality of the team. But he is also proud to be part of the team off the pitch. "We're a really cool bunch, we also do things outside of training and have a good atmosphere."

As comfortable as he feels in Leoben, the right-back also enjoys coming back home. "I go home almost every weekend or every other weekend, if it works out." At home, he often heads to the soccer pitch of his youth club Kuchl: "I love watching them play." Weberbauer is delighted that the Tennengauers are almost certain to be promoted to the Salzburg League. "I would wish it for them. It's a great, young, hungry squad."
