Thrown into a ditch: Pensioner dead
A tragic traffic accident occurred in Lower Austria on Thursday morning. An 87-year-old German lost his life.
The 87-year-old had collided with the car of an 18-year-old woman at a junction in the Markt Piesting area. According to the police, the pensioner died on the spot.
Passenger seriously injured
The German's car was thrown into the ditch by the impact. The driver had to be freed from the car by rescue workers. The 73-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries. The woman from the district of Baden was flown by emergency helicopter to the Wiener Neustadt regional hospital.
18-year-old in shock
The 18-year-old driver of the second car involved in the accident reacted in shock after the crash. She was also taken by ambulance to the hospital in Wiener Neustadt.
