Now fixed for Club World Cup
50 million euros! Bayern makes Salzburg rejoice
Not only in Munich, but also in Salzburg, people are rejoicing over Bayern's semi-final appearance in the Champions League. Because now it's official: the Bulls will be the first Austrian club to take part in the Club World Cup in 2025. As a bonus, the Bulls can also look forward to a windfall of 50 million euros.
Because Bayern beat FC Arsenal 1:0 (aggregate score: 3:2) in the quarter-finals, the Austrian champions have already secured their ticket for the Club World Cup, which will be held for the first time with 32 teams in the USA in the summer of 2025.
According to British and Italian media reports, FIFA's entry fee alone for the new mega-tournament will be in the region of 50 million euros for each team. By comparison, that would be more than a year's budget for all other clubs in the domestic Bundesliga.
Prominent opponents
The game will be played from June 15 to July 13, 2025 in the familiar format of the Men's World Cup with eight groups of four. As CL winners of the past three years, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City are seeded. Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, FC Porto, Benfica Lisbon, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus Turin have also already secured their tickets via the European Cup rankings since 2020. Atletico Madrid is the second Spanish team to join them. The remaining 20 Club World Cup participants come from other continental associations.
