Guardian angel at house fire in Telfes

A 60-year-old local man in Telfes im Stubai was extremely lucky on Wednesday morning. He barely escaped the blaze in the kitchen of his house and "only" suffered smoke inhalation.

A fire broke out in a house in Telfes im Stubai at around 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday for as yet unexplained reasons. When the emergency services arrived, the kitchen on the first floor of the two-storey building was already completely engulfed in flames.

Homeowner saved himself
Fortunately, the homeowner (60) was already outside the building and the man was covered in soot. There were no other people in the building at the time of the fire. The Telfes, Fulpmes and Neustift fire departments with more than 50 firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the upper floors and quickly bring the fire under control.

Investigation underway
The owner of the house was taken to hospital in Hall with suspected smoke inhalation. There was considerable damage to the house and the building is uninhabitable until further notice. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
