Four chicks hatched
First stork babies of the year come from Perg
Six eggs were laid by the two stork parents nesting on an ÖBB radio mast near Perg railroad station (Upper Austria). Four of them hatched on Wednesday afternoon - the first stork babies in Austria this year, according to the Austrian Federal Railways.
As reported, the proud parents in Perg already produced offspring last year. This year, the two-legged friends are likely to be particularly early: Four chicks had already hatched on Wednesday - the first stork babies in the whole of Austria, according to ÖBB. The pair had previously laid six eggs.
Off to the south
In total, around a dozen pairs of storks breed in Upper Austria every year. Most of them head south in the fall to spend the winter in warmer regions.
Not so the storks from Perg: although their young took off south as usual last year, the two parents stayed with us and even spent the winter in the snow-covered nest in Upper Austria.
