Cycling summit
Where the bicycle saddle became the hub of the world
For two days in Wiener Neustadt, everything revolved around saddles, spokes, handlebars and wheels: at the Austrian Cycling Summit, visitors learned interesting facts about the healthy and ecologically valuable form of transportation.
Experiences with cycling in Holland, the future of two-wheelers and the wide range of services offered by cycling professionals: in addition to presentations by recognized experts, visitors were able to immerse themselves in the world of this ecologically valuable form of transport over the past two days in Wiener Neustadt. Parking solutions for cyclists and specially designed furniture were also presented. At the invitation of the Ministry of Climate Action, the provincial government and the city of Wiener Neustadt, cycling fans "pedaled" to the information stands and actively participated in the high-calibre discussion forums. A total of around 20 sessions and workshops took place at various locations, while selected bike tours provided practical insights.
This nationwide cycling summit - which was launched in 2007 - was also largely organized by the Radland team led by Managing Director and Cycling Officer Susanna Hauptmann. Wiener Neustadt's mayor Klaus Schneeberger, who recently announced the "Cycling Offensive 2024", a mix of measures consisting of important improvements in the city's districts and the mountain bike pump track as a new flagship, was also present. MP Philipp Gerstenmayer represented the state government at the event.
Going electric with the "Krone"
The "Krone" was also there: special saddle covers designed in cooperation with Radland were distributed. The "Krone-Nextbike" e-cargo bike was also put into operation. A matching competition rounded off the theme.
