Shock for motorists: Fuel at 9.999 euros?

A brief moment of shock for drivers in Langenrohr in Lower Austria on Tuesday morning! All types of fuel were available at a unit price of 9.999 euros. But the all-clear: it was a technical error in the price display.

Diesel, Super and Super + at 9.999 euros - pretty expensive! That's what drivers in Langenrohr in the district of Tulln thought. They were driving along Tullner Straße towards Tulln an der Donau at around 9.30 a.m. when the huge prices on the display board at a filling station caught their eye. 

Technical problem
The petrol station concerned reassured them that the price mast had failed due to technical problems. "Only the error message 9.999 was displayed," explained an employee. Of course, customers did not fill up at this exorbitant price. In the event of such a technical failure, the amount displayed directly at the pump is always valid.

Shortly afterwards, the correct fuel prices were displayed again. Presumably those drivers who paid attention to the price mast stayed away from the affected filling station for that long.
