Pilot caught by gust of wind, pressed against rock face
A local paraglider (40) got into a dicey situation on Friday in Flirsch in the Tyrolean district of Landeck! The pilot was caught by a gust of wind and pressed against a rock face. The glider then became entangled and the man was trapped at lofty heights.
The incident happened at around 12.45 pm. The pilot was in the "Obere Mutte" area in Flirsch. He wanted to gain height by soaring upwind near a rock face. However, the maneuver went wrong.
The paraglider subsequently became entangled in mountain pines and the man remained uninjured in the immediate crash area.

"Dragonfly" rushed to the rescue
"The 40-year-old was caught by a gust of wind and pressed against the rock face", according to the police. The glider then became entangled in mountain pines, trapping the pilot. He had a stroke of luck and remained uninjured. However, as he was unable to free himself, he had to call for help.
The "Libelle" police helicopter recovered the paraglider using a rope and flew it down into the valley.
