Playful approach
Children assisted at the Teddy Clinic
Almost one hundred children were eager assistants at the Paracelsus University Teddy Bear Clinic over two days.
The children from Herrnau elementary school and Maxglan kindergarten came to the PMU campus in Strubergasse for a morning on April 11 and 12 respectively. 90 cuddly toys were cared for by the young visitors.
The hospital procedure was simulated in a child-friendly way: Two to three children at a time complete various stations together with a "teddy doc", i.e. a medical student, and their "injured" cuddly toy - from a general examination with e.g. listening and reflex test to ultrasound, X-ray and CT/MRI, operating room to applying bandages.
The project aims to take away children's fear of hospitals. Fears and uncertainties are to be reduced in a playful way.
