Historian gives old uniform a new shine

A fire department jacket from the 1930s has now been painstakingly restored by Julian Blaschek. He was assisted by his experienced historian uncle.

Peter Greßl and Julian Blaschek prove that the apple literally doesn't fall far from the tree. While the former, as a fire history officer in the Amstetten district, has often demonstrated his skill at breathing new life into old fire department equipment in the past, his nephew is now increasingly following in his footsteps.

Inspired by the old commander's outfit
Most recently, Blaschek - with the help of his uncle, of course - painstakingly restored the old jacket of a deputy district fire brigade commander from the 1930s. "It was brought up to 1955 standards and is based on the historical uniform of Boxhofner fire department commander Johann Aichinger," explains Blaschek.

Aichinger led the Edla-Boxhofen fire department from 1936 to 1957. This is exactly where a figure has now been dressed in the garment. From now on, it will greet the Florianis and visitors to the fire station.

The "Krone" has repeatedly reported on Greßl's ability to impart great knowledge. For example, the fire department historian has recently restored old helmets, signal horns and medals with great attention to detail, as well as reappraising disasters from the past such as the major fire on Sonntagberg.
