“Dissatisfied”: Bayern kicker threatens to leave
Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano has sought talks with the club's management. After frequently finding himself on the bench recently, the Frenchman could imagine leaving in the summer.
However, Upamecano does not necessarily want to leave Munich, as reported by "Sport Bild". However, the past few weeks have left their mark on the 25-year-old. While coach Thomas Tuchel relied on the duo of Mathijs de Ligt and Eric Dier in central defense, the Frenchman was forced to sit on the bench.
A role that the international is not happy with. After he was also left out of the starting eleven in the important Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal, he finally sought talks with the Bayern management.
A fresh start in the summer
During the conversation, he told the bosses that he was unhappy with his current role and also felt that he was often treated unfairly. A departure in the summer is therefore an option, although staying on and making a fresh start with the new coach is the desired scenario. "I'm trying to analyze what I did well and what I didn't do well. Criticism is part of our job - but I personally don't think I was any worse," explained the Frenchman recently.
Following his move from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021, Upamecano was once seen as the defensive leader of the future. However, he repeatedly made mistakes that caused trouble for the record champions. The 25-year-old's contract runs until 2026 and PSG, Manchester United and Chelsea are said to be interested in a transfer.
