Positive for “zombie” drug! Scandal surrounding goalkeeper star
A doping sample is currently causing quite a stir in Germany: Because Nikola Portner, of all people, starting goalkeeper for Champions League winners SC Magdeburg, has tested positive for the "zombie drug" methamphetamine - also known colloquially as crystal meth!
After the Swiss team goalkeeper reported on Instagram on Wednesday that he had been informed "that a competition control of mine apparently shows an 'analysis result deviating from the norm'", Germany's National Anti Doping Agency confirmed the positive test for methamphetamine on Thursday.
"I very much regret the situation!"
Portner was "deeply shocked" and he "very much regrets the situation". He will do everything in his power to demonstrate "that I have not violated any anti-doping rules and have always acted - and will continue to act - in accordance with the values of the sport".
To this end, it will be necessary to request the analysis of the so-called B sample - only if this does not confirm the positive A sample will Portner be allowed to pursue his profession again without restriction. For the time being, however, the Swiss is suspended from both training and competition.
An exoneration from the accusations will hardly be possible before the Cup Final Four next weekend in Cologne ...
