Did a man from Pinzgau (30) want to make a bomb? Officers found the relevant chemical substances in his apartment. He was fined 1800 euros by the court.
The 30-year-old had chemicals such as glycerol, acetone and hydrochloric acid in his apartment. But that was by no means all: police officers found acetic acid, ammonium sulphate, iodine and many other substances in addition to narcotics during a search of the previously blameless man's home. As it was possible to make explosives with these substances, the public prosecutor's office charged the man with suspicion of "preparing a crime by means of explosives".
Court offered diversion, defendant accepted
The 30-year-old pleaded not guilty on Wednesday at the trial in Salzburg Provincial Court and tried to explain his interest in chemistry. For investigators, on the other hand, the means were evidence of a laboratory for the production of explosives or narcotics. In the end, the 30-year-old accepted responsibility for his misconduct and was offered diversion by the court: As soon as he pays a fine of 1800 euros, the criminal proceedings against him will be dropped.
