Eisenstadt wants to remain a constant talking point

The athletics arena offers young people the opportunity to prepare for international competitions. The aim is to forge starters for world and European championships.

Not only because the storm would have damaged the sleek hairstyle of Minister of Education Martin Polaschek, they retreated to the interior of the Eisenstadt athletics arena to discuss upcoming sporting challenges in the Burgenland capital together with Mayor Thomas Steiner.

A "basis for many talents"
"Eisenstadt is the number one sports city in Burgenland - and we have already proven this with many major events and a diverse sports infrastructure," says Steiner, "This is the basis for many talents who have been able to develop here in a wide variety of sports. And with this project, which is unique in Austria, there will be even more in running."

Embedded in the sports center, the HTL Eisenstadt will experience a new school-autonomous focus on competitive and top-class sport: From the 2025/26 school year, students will have the opportunity to participate in competitive running and prepare for European or World Championships. This innovation has been made possible by the cooperation of the city, the Ministry of Education, the state, the athletics associations and, of course, the HTL. The basis for this is also the new athletics arena.

"I am delighted that a new pilot project is now bringing even more movement to the HTL Eisenstadt," said Polaschek. This project is an enrichment for our educational landscape."
