Serious crash! Worries about ex-MotoGP pro
Long-time MotoGP pro Andrea Dovizioso has had an accident while motocrossing. The Italian had to be admitted to hospital on Tuesday with suspected craniocerebral trauma. However, the 38-year-old's life is not in danger.
Since retiring from MotoGP, Dovizioso has focused on his passion for motocross. The 38-year-old was riding on the Terranuova Bracciolini track in the province of Arezzo on Tuesday, as reported by the "Gazzetta dello Sport". This resulted in a serious crash.
Shortly after eleven o'clock, the former world championship runner-up crashed and suffered a head injury. The emergency services were on the scene immediately and were able to provide the Italian with initial treatment before taking him by helicopter to a nearby hospital.
No danger to life
According to the Italian media, Dovizioso suffered a traumatic brain injury. However, his condition is not life-threatening. Further background information and diagnoses are still pending. The Italian will remain in hospital until further notice.
The former MotoGP professional frequently competed in the Italian Motocross Championship. He previously spent 15 years as a rider in the premier class, celebrating 14 Grand Prix victories and finishing on the podium 40 times. He finally retired in 2022.
