Following a series of targeted missile and drone attacks by Russia on Ukraine's energy infrastructure in recent weeks, the country's power supply has suffered considerable damage. As a result, the EU mobilized emergency energy aid. Austria is also providing power generators.

According to the EU Commission, Austria, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands have offered 157 power generators of various sizes.

To further strengthen Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the EU is also sending ten large-capacity generators (1 MW) worth 3.57 million euros from its own RescEU stocks. Each of these powerful 1 MW generators could supply a medium-sized hospital with electricity in an emergency.

The EU Emergency Coordination Center is in close contact with the Ukrainian authorities on the ground to provide further assistance if needed.

EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič thanked Austria, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands for their offers of generators to Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
