Fernando’s season has come to an early end

It is now a sad certainty: soccer champions FC Red Bull Salzburg announced on Monday evening that striker Fernando's season has come to an early end. The Brazilian suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh in the league clash against SK Rapid.

Injury misfortune remains a faithful companion for Salzburg striker Fernando.

The Brazilian, who has only played 27 games for Austria's serial champions in just under two years, is once again out for a long time with a muscle injury in his right thigh. The club have announced that he will not play again this season.

However, there is still hope for Maurits Kjaergaard. The Dane is also suffering from a thigh injury (sustained in the cup game against Sturm Graz).

"Our goal with Mau is to get him on the pitch before the end of the season. He'll be out for a week or two now and we'll see when he's fit again."
