Missing the 30 degree mark by just a few tenths

Only two tenths of a degree Celsius were missing for a real hot day with 30 degrees or more: the daily high of 29.8 degrees was measured in Weyer. But summer has not yet come to stay: After the coming weekend, real April weather with cold and rain is set to set in.

Sunday's record temperatures did not last long: By Monday, the mercury was already soaring to even higher altitudes. The record value was reached in Weyer, where it was 29.8 degrees. Linz reached 28.9 degrees.

Warm again at the weekend
But summer has not yet come to stay: After an initial cold front with squalls and rain showers in the night to Wednesday, it will be nicer again towards the coming weekend, with early summer temperatures of up to 27 degrees.

Then April weather
This will be followed by a wave of bad weather on Monday or Tuesday: from the current perspective, it could even snow down to 600 meters above sea level during that week. This will be followed by normal, changeable and unstable April weather, according to the meteorologists. "It probably won't be as warm as it has been now in April," predicts Alexander Ohms from GeoSphere Austria.

Danger of cold water
Despite the still warm weather, you shouldn't take the plunge into cold water: "At water temperatures of around ten degrees, jumping or falling into the water is very dangerous," says Martin Eberl from the Upper Austrian Water Rescue Service. Circulatory collapse, panic reactions and reflex-like inhalation under water are possible. After just a few minutes, there is a risk of fatal hypothermia!
