Bayern Munich drew 2-2 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against FC Arsenal. The Munich side put in a strong performance and did not let an early lead unsettle them. In the end, they are in a good position for the second leg in Munich.

Serge Gnabry (18th) and Harry Kane (32nd/foul penalty) had put Bayern, who have been badly shaken in the German league recently, ahead after going behind early on (Bukayo Saka/12th), before Arsenal earned a deserved draw thanks to Leandro Trossard (76th). Salzburg will have taken the result with good grace. After all, should Bayern eliminate Arsenal in next week's second leg, the Bulls would be guaranteed a ticket to the Club World Cup in the USA in the summer of 2025.

Bayern fell behind early on in London. Comebacker Manuel Neuer had no chance when Bukayo Saka made it 1-0, seemingly nipping the visitors' hopes in the bud. But instead of scoring, Ben White shot at Neuer a little later (16') and the Germans accepted the invitation. Ex-Arsenal player Gnabry took the chance to equalize after sloppy build-up play by the home side, and a good ten minutes later Kane made his grand entrance. After a great run from and foul on Leroy Sane, England striker Kane curled the penalty into the bottom right-hand corner after David Raya's early reaction.

Bayern kept Arsenal at bay for the most part after the break with their aggressive pressing, but were ultimately unable to prevent a deserved equalizer.

"Joker" Trossard put the home side's first dangerous shot on target from eleven meters in the second half, but the Gunners still pressed for the winner. However, Bayern scored the winner in the 90th minute through Kingsley Coman.
