Abba thank their fans with a message
The pop group Abba has sent a message of thanks to their fans around the world to mark the 50th anniversary of their Eurovision victory. On Saturday, Abba fans commemorated their victory at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) with the song "Waterloo" on April 6, 1974 in Brighton, England.
The four members of the pop group, Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid "Frida" Lyngstad, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, thanked them with a rare public message.
Music moves generations
It is almost dizzying and they feel extremely humble "that millions of you who saw us for the first time in the 1974 Eurovision final have passed on our music to not just one, but several generations", the four pop stars write on Instagram.
It is difficult for them to realize that 50 years have passed since their success in Brighton. The four went on to write about the ESC back then: "So what were we dreaming about in those tense moments or in the chaos after winning by the narrowest of margins in Eurovision history? Four different dreams, no doubt, but whatever they were, however great they were, reality surpassed them, that's for sure."
"Blessed with the love of our fans"
Many of her fans have been there from the beginning and have been with her ever since. "Throughout the years, we have been blessed with the love of you, our fans," said the Abba members.
It was not easy for them to say thank you without sounding trivial. "We can only hope that you understand how grateful we are for a long, successful career and for your unwavering loyalty and support over the years. Thank you."
