Car and “license” gone: speeding through 80 km/h zone at 177 km/h

A local speeding driver (25) was caught by the Tyrolean police in St. Johann late on Saturday evening. In the course of a chase, the police recorded several infringements. Particularly blatant: the Tyrolean had almost 180 km/h on his speedometer in an 80 km/h zone.

The incident occurred at around 11.20 pm. In the district of Kitzbühel, officers from the provincial traffic department were carrying out traffic monitoring on the Hochkönig federal highway in St. Johann. "They noticed a car driving conspicuously." The police officers then took up the pursuit.

After consultation with the relevant administrative authority, the vehicle was provisionally confiscated.

Several violations measured
"Several violations had already been measured before the 25-year-old exceeded the speed limit by 97 km/h in an 80 km/h zone," said the investigators. The Tyrolean's driver's license was immediately confiscated. After consulting with the administrative authorities, the officers also confiscated the man's car. He is now facing charges.
