Man wants to run half marathon with a pineapple on his head!
It is not uncommon to see runners in colorful costumes or eye-catching accessories at marathons - but Moshe Lederfien gets a lot of attention: The 70-year-old runs with a pineapple on his head! On Sunday, the Israeli wants to run the 21.1 kilometer distance of the Berlin half marathon alongside more than 38,700 other expected participants - including tropical fruit.
Why is he doing this? "I want to connect people, make them laugh," said Lederfien in Berlin. He is often approached on the street and asked for a photo. He also wants to draw attention to the connection between people and nature.
He maintains his balance through training and mental strength
About ten years ago, he was walking with a bottle on his head and discovered that he had a talent for balancing objects in this way. He maintains his balance through regular training and mental strength. According to Lederfien, he has run more than 40 marathons with a pineapple on his head, including the Berlin Marathon.
"The current running boom is accompanied by the development of more and more running sports facets," said the organizer SCC Events on request. At the 2023 Berlin Marathon, for example, one participant started with a 20-kilogram tree trunk, while others dressed up as the Brandenburg Gate or Superman.
