Miriam Long was annoyed when she bought her lottery ticket. She chose the wrong draw, but now she's a winner.

Miriam Long has been playing the lottery for decades, but apart from tiny amounts, the American from Christiansburg in the US state of Virginia has never won. But that hasn't stopped her from filling out lottery tickets and hoping. In mid-March, she entered her lucky numbers in the Virginia Lottery machines as usual. But in the end, she pressed the wrong button by mistake.

Left it at a faux pas
Long wanted to try her luck as usual in the "Mega Millions" game, where the jackpot had now grown to 893 million. She entered the numbers into the machine at her local drugstore, but instead of selecting "Mega Million" by mistake, she pressed the button for the second lottery variant "Powerball". To avoid spending more money on a new ticket, she left her faux pas alone.

Her anger quickly evaporated after the draw on March 18 and turned into "acute palpitations". Because all her numbers were drawn, albeit without the additional number. Now Miriam is a million euros richer: "And that's only because I mixed up the button!"
