Pensioner hit by tree trunk: dead

A man from Lavanttal wanted to make firewood on Friday, but a serious accident occurred during forestry work in Carinthia: the 69-year-old died.

The 69-year-old wanted to cut firewood at the edge of a forest plot in Wolfsberg on Friday morning. He was working alone with a chainsaw, felling an ash tree, but a piece of wood about three meters in size split off the trunk and hit the pensioner in the upper body.

All help came too late
The 69-year-old suffered fatal injuries. He was found by the tenant of the green space at around 10 am. The emergency services tried to resuscitate the man from Lavanttal - but to no avail. The emergency doctor was only able to determine that the man had died.
