Ferdinand Habsburg breaks vertebrae in accident
Ferdinand Habsburg injured himself during Alpine test drives in Aragon: The racing driver suffered two broken lumbar vertebrae in an accident. Fortunately, however, "without neurological effects", as his team confirmed to "motorsport-magazin.com".
A week ago, Habsburg crashed in turn seven during WEC testing in Aragon, Spain. The Austrian was immediately taken to a hospital in Alcaniz, followed by examinations in Austria over the next few days.
The diagnosis: Habsburg, who is also working as a pundit for ORF in the current Formula 1 season, broke two lumbar vertebrae in his crash. According to his team, there is no damage to his nerves. The cause of the accident is currently being investigated.
Imola start shaky
It is currently unclear whether Habsburg will be fit again for the second round of the WEC season in Imola on April 21. "He is at the beginning of his recovery, the duration of which has not yet been determined. It will decide whether he will start the next WEC race in Imola. Alpine is fully behind Ferdinand and wishes him the best and quickest recovery," says his team.
