13 Salzburg branches
Oberbank even beats its own records
The bank with 13 branches in Salzburg posted large profits in 2023 and sees an upswing for the economy and consumers. Although the mood is different.
Romana Thiem recently became the first woman from Salzburg to join the Management Board of Oberbank, which is based in Linz. Following the departure of Josef Weißl, the bank, which has strong roots in industry, is thus once again taking on a Salzburg flavor. The Seekirchen native (40) and lawyer is responsible for the private customer business.
Salzburg's 13 branches also contributed to the very successful 2023 results with their private customer business. The interest-earning business alone brought in 600 million euros. Equity was increased to 3.9 billion and profit after tax amounted to a whopping 383 million, which also beat another record from the previous year.
While Salzburg-Oberbank Director Petra Fuchs cited "unconditional customer proximity" as a success factor, Management Board member Martin Seiter explained that the generally less than rosy mood, especially among consumers, did not match the data: "People have more money in their pockets again. The growth in real wages is also leading to higher deposit growth and is an argument that things will also pick up again in private residential construction."
