Schoolboy (14) crashes into river in his mother’s car
Hair-raising action by a 14-year-old in Tyrol: he got into his mother's car, then drove off a road and ended up in a river. Witnesses and the fire department were quickly on the scene. However, the 14-year-old had to be airlifted to Innsbruck Hospital.
On Tuesday morning, the 14-year-old pupil drove his mother's car without authorization. He was driving on Sellrainer Straße from Kematen towards Sellrain at around 11.30 am. The 14-year-old, who was alone in the vehicle, drove off the road to the right in the Gries area. The vehicle only came to a standstill about 150 meters further on in the Melach.
Witnesses provided first aid
Uninvolved drivers immediately provided first aid and the young local man was eventually rescued from the vehicle by members of the Gries fire department. After initial treatment by the rescue helicopter team, the seriously injured schoolboy was flown to the hospital in Innsbruck. The details of the accident are still under investigation by the police.
In addition to the police, the Gries fire department with 15 members and four vehicles, a rescue vehicle and an emergency helicopter were deployed.
