Significant increase
218 coups: Houses and basements targeted by burglars
Brazen burglars struck 218 times in residential buildings in Carinthia last year - an increase of almost 57 percent compared to 2022. And this despite the fact that residents are now securing their homes more effectively.
It should be noted that the total number of burglaries in Carinthia has fallen slightly compared to 2022. This is mainly due to the 15.4 percent drop in residential burglaries (from 117 to 99 coups). However, this contrasts with the alarming negative trend in burglaries in residential buildings: while criminals still tried their criminal luck a total of 139 times in 2022, the authorities already recorded 218 house burglaries in the previous year.
More cases solved
An unwelcome increase of almost 57 percent. Cellars were also increasingly targeted in the previous year, as were valuable bicycles. The only positive statistic in this context: Carinthian investigators were able to solve 31.8 percent of the burglary cases - the highest clear-up rate in the past ten years. Nevertheless, it was clear from the evidence that burglars are failing more and more often thanks to improved home security measures.
