Liefering brings next top team to its knees

It was an Easter thriller right to the end. But in the end, the young bulls kept three Easter eggs at home in Salzburg, defeating FAC 4:1. Two premiere goals, a joker goal and a dream goal from Zeteny Jano continued the positive development of the Cinel squad.

Everything was set for the second division clash between Liefering and FAC in glorious soccer weather at the Red Bull Arena on Easter Sunday. And Young Bulls coach Onur Cinel is likely to have taken at least one thing away from the international break. As Ralf Rangnick's assistant coach with the ÖFB team, he and the team scored the fastest goal. And it didn't take too long on Easter Sunday either. Soumaila Diabate was in the right place after a corner and made it 1:0 for the home side after five minutes.

After that, the game lumbered along, with chances on both sides in short supply. Suddenly, raw diamond Zeteny Jano unleashed a trick shot, lifting the ball wonderfully over guest goalkeeper Spari from just under 17 meters out. Shortly afterwards came the shock: right-back Lawrence Agyekum injured his shin and had to be stretchered off by two supporters. Full-back Benjamin Atiabou came on for him. But the Ghanaian gave the all-clear after the game: "It's not that bad."

After the changeover, the Floridsdorf side led by Flachau's Felix Seiwald failed to take control of the game. But they had a bit of luck in the 57th minute. Paolino Bertaccini gave Salko Hamzic no chance after a deflected shot and scored the equalizer. This put an end to the Young Bulls' minimal superiority - a lively game ensued.

Around 30 seconds after coming on as a substitute, Gaoussou Diakite calmed his team's nerves. A wonderful solo run from his own half to just outside the penalty area, a deflected shot and the 3:1. "I'm very happy," said the Malian, beaming from ear to ear. Shortly before the end, substitute Philip Verhounig went one better and scored to make the final score 4:1. Liefering now have 13 points out of a possible 18 this spring. "It was an even game," said coach Cinel. "It was brutally intense, above all we were very efficient in front of goal," said the manager, delighted with his team's coolness.
