Bregenz Handball was the last Austrian team to bow out of the European Cup on Saturday. The team from Vorarlberg won the second leg of the European Cup quarter-final at home against CS Minaur Baia Mare by 30:28 (18:16), but was defeated 61:65 by the Romanian team.
Bregenz had already made up the six-goal deficit from the first leg for a short time in the second half, but ran out of steam in the end.
"We were one plus six for a short time, but then we weren't clever enough. It was a great battle," said Tobias Wagner. The international scored six goals. "But it's such a shame, so I have to criticize a bit. We weren't six goals worse in Baia Mare either."
