It's not Mercedes
New transfer rumor about world champion Verstappen
Max Verstappen is under contract with Red Bull Racing until 2028, but reports have recently been doing the rounds that the Formula 1 world champion could leave the bull team after the current season. Following rumors of a transfer to Mercedes, Aston Martin is now also said to be interested in the Dutchman.
Due to the unrest in the team caused by the scandal surrounding Christian Horner, Verstappen's stay until the end of his contract is by no means fixed. If the rift in the racing team continues to grow, it is quite possible that the three-time champion will pack his bags and sign on with a new employer, although Verstappen's future will probably also depend on that of motorsport consultant Helmut Marko. If the Austrian leaves, Verstappen leaves, they say.
Successful duo switching racing teams?
Aston Martin is another interested party for the 26-year-old, as reported by Auto Motor und Sport. In addition to Red Bull's star designer Adrian Newey, Verstappen is also said to be on the British team's wish list. Which speaks in favor of a deal: from 2026, the Aston Martin cars will be equipped with Honda engines, with the Japanese drive unit Verstappen became world champion three years in a row.
Mercedes are also said to be interested in the world championship leader, with team boss Toto Wolff having always been a great admirer of the Formula 1 dominator. As Lewis Hamilton will be leaving the Silver Arrows after the season, at least one cockpit will be free.
