Stop sign overlooked
Car hit by train: Driver taken to hospital
On Friday evening, a train crashed into a car in Halbenrain (Styria). The driver (54) had probably overlooked both the stop sign and the train.
An evening operation on Good Friday for the Halbenrain volunteer fire department: As reported by the police, a car driver (54) was driving on a local road towards the B69 at around 8.15 pm. In order to reach this road, he had to cross a railroad crossing. However, the man must have overlooked the stop sign there - as well as the approaching train. The train driver had no chance of bringing the train to a standstill and crashed into the carriage, throwing it into a bridge railing.
Despite his injuries, the 54-year-old was able to free himself from the car and was then taken to hospital. The six train passengers and the train driver were unharmed.
