Easter traffic on the Tauernautobahn (A10) in Salzburg once again led to a traffic jam several kilometers long on both Good Friday and Maundy Thursday.

On Good Friday, the queue heading south already stretched over ten kilometers and could grow further in the course of the afternoon. Waiting times were initially up to two hours.

On Maundy Thursday, the traffic jam finally reached a length of 18 kilometers, which according to the ÖAMTC was "by far the longest traffic jam in all of Austria", with waiting times of up to three hours.

The renovation of the tunnel chain at Pass Lueg has led to the complete closure of one directional lane of the A10 between Golling (Tennengau) and Werfen (Pongau) since September, leading to traffic jams, especially on busy travel days. Despite the road closures, the provincial roads in the Salzach Valley were again affected by extensive diversion traffic on Friday.
