Holy Saturday has probably brought the preliminary decision in the title fight of the German Bundesliga. While leaders Bayer Leverkusen defeated Hoffenheim 2:1 thanks to two late goals, runners-up Bayern Munich lost 2:0 to Borussia Dortmund in the top match. The "Werkself", who remain unbeaten, are a comfortable 13 points ahead of the record champions from Munich with seven matchdays to go in the season.
Dortmund landed their first Bundesliga win in Munich for almost ten years in the top match. Konrad Laimer played in a double-six for Bayern, while Marcel Sabitzer was suspended for Borussia. Both teams were also without their regular goalkeepers Manuel Neuer and Gregor Kobel respectively. Munich started more actively, but the goal came from the other side. Julian Brandt set up Karim Adeyemi and the ex-Salzburg man beat Bayern's substitute goalkeeper Sven Ulreich with a shot from an acute angle that was not unstoppable (10').
Dortmund defended passionately, but Bayern still managed to create chances. Goalscorer Harry Kane missed with his head from a promising position (23'), while Eric Dier's header was clawed off the line by Mats Hummels with a kung-fu leap (35'). After the break, Ulreich thwarted a great chance from Felix Nmecha (53). Ryerson increased the lead to 2:0 with a low shot (83') during Munich's sustained pressure in the final phase. It was a poor evening for Bayern, with Kane's supposed follow-up goal not counting due to a wafer-thin offside (89').
