Switch to the competition
Important Verstappen confidant leaves Red Bull
Setback for Max Verstappen away from the race track: Lee Stevenson, head mechanic in the Dutchman's team for many years, is leaving Red Bull with immediate effect and moving to the Formula 1 competition.
After the bitter retirement in Melbourne last weekend, there is now more bad news for Max Verstappen: Lee Stevenson, an important confidant of the three-time world champion, is turning his back on Red Bull. After 18 years, he is leaving the Formula 1 racing team.
"An exciting 18 years"
"I just wanted to let you know that you won't be seeing any more Red Bull posts from me. Today is my last day," said Stevenson in a video he posted on Instagram. The mechanic drew a line under it. "It's been an exciting 18 years and all the things I've achieved here with the team have been absolutely incredible."
Switch to another team
Now the next Formula 1 adventure awaits. "And that chapter begins on Monday when I fly to Japan and start working with my new team," said Stevenson, without naming his new employer. The Briton only revealed that the team is "at the other end of the pit lane".
