Rauris Literature Days
Experience literature with all your senses this year
Read, listen, write, see: Rauris presents stories of living together this year.
"I already know my book, I'm looking forward to the rest of the program," says this year's Rauris Literature Prize winner Matthias Gruber. On April 3 and 4, he will be reading from his award-winning debut novel "Die Einsamkeit der Ersten ihrer Art" on stage at the Mesnerhaus. A change of scene for Gruber, who previously worked as a journalist. "What you write in this profession is something completely different," the Salzburg native realized and therefore preferred to devote himself to more comprehensive works. And his debut was an immediate success. "You can only marvel at the aesthetic benefits of reading it. This book takes a new look at life and what it can be," was the jury's verdict.
Under the motto "Stories of living together", the Rauris Literature Days are once again inviting people to readings, discussions and writing workshops from April 3 to 7. The invited authors include Milena Michiko Flašar, Laura Freudenthaler, Sabine Gruber, Amir Gudarzi, Irene Langemann, Gianna Molinari, Tonio Schachinger, David Schalko, Margit Schreiner and Renate Welsh.
As part of this year's program, there is not only something for the ears, but also something for the eyes: the film "Rauris erlesen. Five decades of Rauris Literature Days" looks back on the history of the festival series. In her works exhibited in the Mesnerhaus, German photographer Katharina Mayer explores the shared lives of people in diverse social, cultural and religious contexts.
