Next betting scandal! Tonali in trouble again

Sandro Tonali is once again in the spotlight: the Italian international has once again been accused of alleged illegal betting.

As the English Football Association (FA) announced on Thursday, the currently suspended midfielder of Premier League club Newcastle United is alleged to have breached FA betting rules and placed a total of 50 bets on soccer matches between August 12 and October 12, 2023. The 23-year-old Tonali has until April 5 to respond to the allegations.

Tonali has been serving a ten-month ban by the Italian Football Federation FIGC since last October due to his involvement in a betting scandal, and he also had to undergo eight months of therapy. If he is convicted again in England, things could get even worse for Tonali.

Tonali had admitted to betting on his own team's matches during his time at AC Milan. His lawyer had said at the time that he was addicted to gambling. The Italian only moved to England last summer for more than 63 million euros.
