"He has to be on it"
Rangnick to Bayern? “He must be on the list”
Could ÖFB team boss Ralf Rangnick soon be on the sidelines of FC Bayern Munich? "He must be on the list that Max Eberl has drawn up," emphasized Interwetten ambassador Lothar Matthäus at a press conference on Tuesday.
FC Bayern Munich is currently searching for a successor to coach Thomas Tuchel. Sports director Max Eberl is already holding numerous talks. Ralf Rangnick, who has triggered a wave of euphoria with the ÖFB team, is now also coming into focus.
"Wherever he has worked, he has always done a successful job. He has played attractive soccer, even now with the Austrians, as we saw against Germany," enthuses Matthäus about Rangnick. "He relies on young players, which is also where FC Bayern wants to go. That's also Max Eberl's philosophy. Rangnick must be on the list that Eberl has drawn up."
No solo entertainer in Munich
Matthäus knows Rangnick as a coach and a person. "At Bayern Munich, you're not the sole entertainer like at Red Bull Salzburg or Leipzig, where there have also been a few differences," the Interwetten expert points out. "But Ralf Rangnick would be a name I could imagine at Bayern."
Odds at 7.00
Rangnick is not the top favorite with the bookmakers, with odds of 7.00.
Leverkusen's successful coach Xabi Alonso currently has the best odds (3.50), followed by VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß with odds of 6.
