Election loser Holztrattner thinks about resigning
Bad Vigaun's current mayor Friedrich Holztrattner (ÖVP) has no explanation for the election defeat.
"Life goes on." One day later, Bad Vigaun's mayor Friedrich Holztrattner (ÖVP) has already come to terms with his bitter election defeat. However, he can't explain the result: "It's a total surprise," says the mayor. He was clearly defeated by his challenger Alexander Sartori in the run-off election on Sunday. Only 43.1 percent of the votes went to the ÖVP man.
"The mood in the village was good, I got a lot of support," says Holztrattner, baffled. The SPÖ and the FPÖ had also recommended the incumbent for election. What will happen next for the still-mayor? The coming days will show. Holztrattner's retirement from politics is on the table: "I will discuss this with my team during Holy Week."
Meanwhile, election winner and neo-head of the local council Alexander Sartori (BBV) is still in a celebratory mood: "My cell phone is ringing off the hook. Everyone is congratulating me."
