Michael and Manuel Lackner practically grew up on the race track. The motocross brothers from Oberdorf are eagerly awaiting the start of the season on the Easter weekend in Paldau and still have a lot planned.
Own motocross track
Who can claim to have their own motocross track at home? Michael (19) and Manuel (13) Lackner grew up with it in Oberdorf. Their father Christoph and uncle Werner were passed on the "MX virus" by their father, and Oberdorf has long since become an integral part of the local racing calendar. This year, the home race in the ÖM will take place on September 8. "The absolute highlight of the season for us, of course," says Christoph, who is still active and racing at 51, "but I don't know yet whether I'll be competing in the national championship." His main focus there is now on looking after his sons, who, like him, ride KTMs.
Decision on Manuel's start at short notice
The season starts in Paldau at Easter, but there is still a question mark over Manuel Lackner's participation. "He has a hematoma in his knee, between the cartilage and bone, from a training crash - if at all, he won't get back on the bike until the race," says his father. Nevertheless, Manuel has what it takes to defend his youth national championship title in the up to 85 cc class from last year.

Junior runner-up for the first time in MX2
His brother Michael was also stopped by bad luck due to injury in 2023, but still ended up with the junior runner-up title. This year, the budding teacher, who is studying at the University of Teacher Education in Eisenstadt, is competing in MX2 for the first time. "If he keeps up his training performance, he can also finish on the podium there," Christoph Lackner is convinced. Of course, that would be a huge surprise at the opening round in Paldau, as every changeover takes time. "The podium is possible, but difficult - but I'm confident of a top 5 finish," says the young South Burgenlander, setting himself the bar.
Professional training
Michael Reinprecht, who also worked with Dominic Thiem, is an absolute professional and the Lackners completed their preparation in Hungary and Slovakia. During the season, however, they only train at home - if you already have your own track...
