Princess Kate (42) and her husband Prince William (41) have expressed their appreciation for the many get-well wishes they received after Kate's cancer diagnosis was announced.

The Prince and Princess were "very touched" by the kind messages from people in the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace said on Sunday night.

"Are very grateful"
"They are very moved by the warmth and support of the public and grateful for the understanding of their desire for privacy at this time," the statement said.

Kate ended wild speculation with video message
The 42-year-old mother-of-three addressed the public in a video message on Friday evening after weeks of speculation about her health. She had undergone abdominal surgery in mid-January and had not appeared in public since. Tests after the operation had revealed that she had cancer. On the advice of her medical team, she was given chemotherapy as a precaution.

Following the publication of the video message, many people sent their well wishes to the daughter-in-law of King Charles III, including US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak assured Kate that the country was behind her. At the same time, he called for Kate to be granted the same privacy in medical matters as other people.
